Terms and Conditions Print E-mail
Regulations
INFOMATRIX provides this web site and the possibility to participate to the International Project competition. Use of this site and participation to this contest implies an agreement to abide by and be bound by these terms and conditions. Therefore, please read the following information carefully.

ISC (INFOMATRIX Steering Committee) reserves the right to refuse to post, alter or remove any registration or other transmitted information. ISC may exercise this right without any advance notice to the individual submitting the information.

All information provided by participants shall be true, accurate and up-to-date at all times, including, but not limited to, information concerning intellectual property ownership and rights thereto.

Users agrees not to participate with illegal software and/or services (including but not limited to cracking, hacking and virus software/services), 'free' work or work whose only compensation is profit sharing, or requests that are deemed by ISC to be offensive or inappropriate. Doing any of the above can result in immediate disqualifying the team if they don’t give exact information about the open source used or places from where they got the information. More than that they should specify exactly what parts of the project are original.

Password Pair
We strongly urge the users to follow standard security measures, which includes but is not limited to:
  • Protecting their password pair (username and password) by keeping it completely private and confidential (so that a person doesn't discover the information and compromise their account).
  • Selecting their password such that: It is a mix of both numbers and letters, and least 4 characters or more long (to prevent a person from easily guessing their password).
  • Choosing a password that is unique and different than passwords used for other sites and services (so that a compromise at another site will not compromise their account).
  • Keeping their username current in the system and safeguarding access to their account.

The participants authorizes ISC to treat themselves or any party who provides the user’s password pair as the user themselves, and agrees to assume sole responsibility for all actions undertaken by any such party. User further understands and agrees that for their protection, INFOMATRIX Team may not provide certain uploading or editing the projects or information until they authenticate their identity by providing their password pair.

Copyright/ Sell negotiations
If another user or simply a guest of the site wants to have/buy a project and to get the copyright for it, they should contact the other part that made the project and should know the local and International laws that may apply. INFOMATRIX Team doesn’t reserves the right to take action against a party that breeches a copyright/sell agreement and will not sell, give or use any part of the project except the purpose it was realized for (the participation to INFOMATRIX contest).

Additional Copyright indemnification of the project.
Team warrants and represents that all work produced for INFOMATRIX (including but not limited to code, algorithms, ideas and/or any other item used to create their deliverables for the contest) are original works of authorship created by team and that the work do not violate any rights, including but not limited to copyright rights. The team agrees to properly declare and explain the places form where they took something (ideas, source code, etc) and what part they use them in their project and what are the original elements.

Use of English
Users agree to use English in all communications on the site to allow ISC to properly answer to all the questions.

Access to source code, deliverables and systems
The participants understand and agree that ISC may examine the work that was delivered. For the final phase the participants agrees to make available to ISC all source code, deliverables and access to systems necessary to fully and completely investigate the allegations.

ISC agrees not to copy, acquire, sell, barter, trade, or use such source code, deliverables or systems, in any manner other than to verify that work was performed as contracted. If a non disclosure agreement is required by the user before accessing the above, ISC and the finalist teams will make all reasonable arrangements. For finalist team is highly recommended to ensure that ISC has access ONLY to the things that it requires to perform the above, and not grant access above and beyond this.

Additionally, the finalist team agrees that they (and not ISC) are responsible for safeguarding all of their property in advance of providing access, using industry accepted standards when allowing access to an external party. This includes but is not limited to backing up all source code, deliverables, data and systems that could or might be affected by the level of access being granted by the user to ISC. ISC will exercise utmost care in conducting testing. But ultimately the finalist agrees that ISC is not responsible for any inadvertent changes that might occur...including possible decreased functionality or loss of data, which might result from testing.

Illegal registration and projects
Despite INFOMATRIX's best efforts to prohibit registration that violate either INFOMATRIX policy or Romanian law, it cannot prevent all such registration from being posted, as no system is perfect. The user will be ejected from the site under the terms of 'fraud'. A participant agrees not to work on any projects that are illegal in nature or violate INFOMATRIX site policy or contracts. INFOMATRIX refuses to support illegal projects.

Deliverables
To avoid dispute over delivery, the participant agrees to upload a part of deliverables (and to bring the entire and complete project for the final) at the time of work completion to the site or on the ftp.

Delivery Deadlines
ISC has set a deadline for delivery of the deliverables for the final and for pre-selection. The participant agrees to deliver the project to the site on or before the delivery deadline.

Extending Deadlines
Managing the deadline is the ISC's responsibility. If the participant cannot deliver his work by the deadline, it is his responsibility to inform ISC as soon as possible about this and about the problems that appeared. If the participant is unable or unsuccessful in extending the deadline, then the original deadline stands. Otherwise, the extended deadline will be applied for all the teams.

Jury Decision
For the pre-selection a jury of experts (software engineers, programmers, professional designers, professors, teachers) will evaluate the projects (there are different sections for university students and high school students) and the qualified ones will be announced as soon as possible. There might be multiple reasons for jury's decision, but the principal criteria for evaluating the projects are on the web site. Due to confidentiality reasons, the INFOMATRIX policy does not accept publishing of scores obtained during this phase of INFOMATRIX. In the final phase, qualified project owners will come to Bucharest and arrange their stands in the exhibition hall.

Exhibition will be open to public for one- two days. In the mean time, the jury will assess the projects during the exhibition. Please note that we are combating prejudices which lead to racial discrimination and we are promoting understanding, tolerance and friendship among nations and racial, religious and ethnical groups.

INFOMATRIX believes strongly in protecting our users' privacy. Please note that ISC uses the best of its ability to protect all data from external and unauthorized party access by the use of (but not limited to) firewalls and encryption. Additionally it also uses the best of its ability to protect site users from viruses via virus scanning software. However no security system and/or virus system is 100% secure or 100% effective. Should sensitive data be confirmed as compromised, or a virus discovered on an ISC system, ISC will alert the affected user via email (to the address registered on the site). However, due to the nature of security and viruses, ISC strongly advises the user to take their own security precautions, such as personal virus scanning software, and/or encrypting sensitive communications. Given the nature of these matters, should a security compromise or virus incident occur, user agrees that ISC is not liable for the incident (in any way or kind) nor for any repercussions of such an incident (in any way or kind).

By using www.infomatrix.ro you agree to be legally bound by these terms, which shall take effect immediately on your first use of the site. Please note that for any project announced on the website which doesn't fit to terms and conditions all their ranks will be cancelled.

The ISC may change these terms at any time by posting changes online. Review these terms regularly to ensure you are aware of any changes made by the ISC.

We hope your enjoyment of INFOMATRIX site will be enhanced by the application of these Terms and Conditions. It is our belief that your understanding of the guidelines we have set forth will allow the INFOMATRIX community to continue to be a place where each of us can prosper, grow, and enjoy ourselves within an open and non-threatening environment. Thank you taking the time to read these Terms and Conditions and we hope you'll enjoy our site and you'll join the contest.
